TRAUMA HEALING PARENTING
What is Trauma Healing Parenting?
Trauma Healing Parenting is an approach tailored for children who endure "ongoing" trauma. Grounded in neurobiological development, attachment theory, trauma research, and developmental psychology, this method aids parents in healing their child's trauma while also fostering resilience and adaptability to shield them from future trauma.
Who is Trauma Healing Parenting for?
Trauma Healing Parenting is specifically designed for children who encounter "ongoing" trauma, often due to being in less than ideal environments and repeatedly interacting with a harmful parent.
This approach is particularly beneficial for children whose parents are going through high-conflict divorces, have experienced domestic abuse, or are facing post-separation abuse and children who experience coercive parenting.
How does Trauma Healing Parenting work?
Parents are guided in healing their child's trauma through three foundational pillars: Relate (establishing a Trauma Healing Relationship), Respond (creating a Trauma Healing Environment), and Repair and Reconnect.
The emphasis shifts away from the actions of the maladaptive parent, focusing instead on how the protective parent can support their children, and on mitigating the long-term negative effects of trauma.
